Does Walgreens Do Cash Back?

The budget-conscious crowd already knows the benefits of cash back programs. In addition to saving time and avoiding ATM fees, many stores have their own cash back programs to help their customers save even more on their purchases. Although many major supermarket and drugstore chains participate, this isn’t the case everywhere you shop. So, you may be wondering, does Walgreens do cash back?

Does Walgreens Do Cash Back?

The short answer is: Yes, Walgreens does cash back.

“Cash back” can refer to many things such as credit card rewards, store credit, or getting cash when you check out. However, all three options are possible at Walgreens.

They also accept several types of payment including credit cards, debit cards, personal checks, gift cards, and Apple Pay. But, it’s important to note that Walgreens will only give you cash back on debit card purchases.

When you pay with your debit card at the register, the screen prompt will ask if you want cash back with your purchase. As long as you have spent the minimum of $0.01, you can get $5, $10, or $20 cash back. While some cashiers may allow you to complete multiple transactions, many will limit you to the $20 maximum, especially if they are busy.

Does Duane Reade Do Cash Back?

Yes, Duane Reade does cash back.

Duane Reade, which is owned and operated by Walgreens, follows the same cash back policy.

Other Ways to Get Cash Back at Walgreens

If you are not looking to get some physical currency, and instead want to reduce online shopping bills at Walgreens, you are in luck. There are lots of ways to get cash back at Walgreens. Here are three of the most common:

1) Use A Cash Back Site

The internet has several sites devoted to getting cash back from online retailers. Although you can search their sites for the best deals, you can also download the extension to your internet browser to have them automatically look for savings while you shop. Some of the best cash back sites out there include:

RetailMeNot

Rakuten

Dollardig

If you’re unfamiliar with cash back websites, they work on a simple model. You create an account with the site and then shop as usual at your favorite online retailers. When you make a purchase, the retailer pays a commission to the cash back website. A portion of that commission is then paid back to you in the form of cash back. The amount of cash back varies depending on the retailer, but it typically ranges from 1% to 10%. Some cash back websites also offer additional benefits, such as sign-up bonuses and referral bonuses.

2) Use a Cash Back Credit Card

Essentially, cash back credit cards earn you a percentage of the money you spend back in the form of a statement credit or direct deposit. For example, if you have a card that offers 1% cash back on all purchases and you spend $100 in a month, you would receive $1 back.  The trick here is to stack your cash back card with a cash back site. Doing this consistently will add up.

However, be sure you pay off your credit card every month. Carrying a balance on a credit card will erase any benefits of getting cash back.

3) myWalgreens Rewards

Finally, myWalgreens Mastercard will help you earn even more. Once you sign up, you will get 5% cash back per dollar from Walgreens stores nationwide and 10% on Walgreens brand products. Plus, you’ll earn between 1% and 3% on all qualifying purchases you make outside the store as well.

Right now, you can earn an additional $50 in Walgreens cash rewards. From November 1 through December 30, you’ll get an extra $50 when you open an account and complete your first purchase. However, some exclusions apply.

However, you don’t have to sign up for the card to earn points through their rewards program.

The myWalgreens program allows customers to earn points for every dollar they spend at Walgreens. Once you are a member, you will earn 1% per dollar spent and 5% on Walgreens branded products.

These points can then be redeemed for Walgreens gift cards or used to purchase Walgreens merchandise. When you buy something either in-store or online, all you need to do is enter your phone number and zip code to claim your points.

Ideally, you’d use all three methods in combination. First, find a cash back site. Next, utilize a cash back card. Then, take advantage of myWalgreens. That would be the strongest way to get cash back.

To join today, you can visit the myWalgreens signup page here.
